What the heck is “Jötunn”?

Do you want our version or wikipedia’s?

A jötunn (pronounced: YO-ton of bricks) is a mythological giant that harassed Germanic and Norse peoples. These giants sometimes had multiple heads, and were often associated with mountains or other elements. They were powerful and scary.

In the popular game Dungeons & Dragons, the ettin monster (jötunn!) is a two-headed giant. Not only is the concept of two people trapped in the same body absolutely hilarious (maybe terrifying is a better word?), but it ironically is a great metaphor for what it’s like to be a part of a creative business.

There are two heads.

One head is the sensitive, creative genius; the other is the steady, logical tactician. They live together in the same body, ever at odds, but striving for harmony.

It’s about being ok with imperfection.

Jötunn is about acceptance, love, and celebrating the rich — if at times chaotic — relationship the creative arts have with business and business needs.

Our “monster mark” represents our creative side; our word mark, our business side.

Together, we are Jötunn.
